Stretchbooks
I have mentioned that my main goal for this year is to finish my thesis film. But if there’s a main goal, theres a not-main goal! Which for me is to fill a sketchbook page every day. It’s not very realistic to get there a 100%, aside from drawing I surprisingly have life things happening, but I want to fulfill this like 95%. Until now, has been working! Why do I want this? To improve? No. To maintain - I noticed my draftsmanship has become a tiny bit less confident and intentional than it was in during a time where I was drawing almost every day. So to get that base confidence back I want to move my hand in a the shape of a drawing, daily. Like stretching (which I don’t do daily yet).
I love sketching. My sketchbook isn’t pretty though, I actually allow myself ugly and failed drawings, aside from notes and brainstorm pages. But in celebration of pretty sketches, here are two artists whose sketches I love! May they also bring you joy.
Sush’s sketchbook (traditional, she has amazing digital sketches too, this one is 5£)

Am I making this too short?
I think we will enter an era of long-form and long-term content. Many artists I follow are talking about working on their projects instead of chasing the algorithm, some left social media in general, some visit it once a month. I saw a YouTube video talking about YouTubers going into hiatus or leaving or changing their creativity practice online. TikTok seems to be testing the grounds for long-form content. Newsletters are growing apparently, which shows interest in longer reading experiences. And then the last weeks have been filled with news about lay-offs from gaming and tech companies and Riot Games posted an explanation behind their firing decisions, stating this as one of them:
This could mean two things. One, I am completely biased by my internet bubble and am reading into events that have nothing to do with each other. Or, two, everyone noticed how it’s either quality or quantiy, both is extremely difficult, and quality brings the most lasting results. Meaning maybe, finally, we can break free from the myth that to be succesful you need to post weekly or daily.
What is your internet bubble telling you?
