New stickers
Guess what - I'm selling art again! At the same little university art fare from last time. I will be mostly selling the same products, in a slightly different configuration, but there is one new thing I will be trying: using a label printer to create stickers. Usually a label printer is used for, well, labels, so it can only print in black and white and a somewhat low resolution. I thought that would be an interesting challenge to deal with, and to test if there is any interest for those types of stickers at all. What do you think about the designs?
Would you buy them? You can be honest and say no and spare me future failed investments lol.
✦ not art (it actually is though)
Severance
I want to highlight some of the media I have been recently taking in (nicer word than consuming, no?). So first of all, like promised, Severance.
It's been a long long time since I got super invested and excited about something and I remembered how pure the fun of well made entertainment can be. Severance became a highlight of the day for me, not just the "switch off head post work" moment. I was so starved for interesting scripts, I didn’t even realize it. I don't want to spoil it so I won't talk about specifics, but do watch it.
One thing I want to mention aside the script though, was the cinematography. Wow! The lighting... The way the show uses contrast and the blue colors and everything, I was so inspired. And I think that shows what good entertainment can be, it can inspire instead of distract (am I copying this from someone?).
The visuals have been inspiring me so much that I am thinking about how to replicate this high contrast style with animation. It’s a lot of work to animate with shadow and light but I want to replicate this look so bad, it even makes me think about filming things in live-action. When I have more time I will probably try to make some studies.
Hauntii
Last week I was at a game event and even though I'm not really a gamer, it’s super interesting to see upcoming indie games, I just want to highlight one here that is aesthetically interesting - Hauntii. I just played like 20min of it but what beautiful 20min! The visuals are so pretty and the sound design is amazing as well. Check it out.
Gonna use this opportunity to also showcase my friend’s indie game, Ecos da Mata! It’s in the works but you can wishlist it already. “Ecos da Mata is a top down action-rpg game about preservation, colonialism and folklore. The story takes place in a fantasy setting inspired by Brazilian history and folklore, taking on its themes and characters. Play as Aiyra and uncover the mysteries of the Snoring Woods.”
Marathon
Okay, so another obsession moment, but this trailer Alberto Mielgo made for this random shooter game is AMAZING. Another thing that inspired me massively, I didn’t know I loved graphic-design-porn. I love the bold designs and the trailer managed to put a contemplative tone into this shooter multiplayer game. Alberto Mielgo never seizes to amaze me with his creations, he brings a real artistic touch into commercial mainstream projects. I want to see a feature film in his style.
